What do I think about Christians serving gay customers: such as a baker making a wedding cake for a gay couple?
The Obama administration and the LBGTQRX (whatever acronym they’re using now) movement is saying resistance is futile, you will be assimilated. Is this a Chinese Finger Puzzle where we’re playing into their plans by resisting? I think so. I think they only gain strength from the majority of the efforts that the Christian community makes to rebuke gay marriage.
My take: Make the cake.
Unless someone is requesting you make an obscene or hateful item (whatever their orientation, reason, or event): make the item. Cater the event, unless it’s a lewd event, but even then, offer to prepare the food, or decorations, or items, and let the customer pick them up. Read Luke 16:1-17 – I think it applies here, basically saying we have to live in this world.
I think businesses should have the right to refuse to serve anyone; however, that refusal should be based on a valid, defendable reason. Until the courts are more balanced we won’t get this option.
Let God Use You
Jesus didn’t minister to, and heal those without sin; he walked among the sinners, the dirty, the sick, the possessed, and the lost. If we, as Christians, are to model our lives after Jesus, then why refuse to interact with those whose beliefs are different than our own? Perhaps God has orchestrated the interaction. God will provide what you need when you need it. Perhaps some small act of kindness, or some seemingly small statement, will have an impact on someone else. Maybe not now, but sometime in the future. Don’t second guess God – it usually does not turn out to well!
Like I said in my previous post, Somewhere Over the Rainbow: Is being Gay a Sin?, you can’t push a string. You’re not going to make a statement about the strength of your faith in Jesus Christ by shutting the door. Compassion, strength, and courage are needed. Accepting is not the same as approving.
Vice Versa
I also think that if a Muslim baker refused to bake a cake for a same sex marriage, nothing would be done about it, absolutely nothing. Their decision would be upheld all the way to the Supreme Court and the White House. Why? Because it’s obvious that Christianity is under attack and that the Obama administration is part of that movement. The oxymoron here is that Islam calls for killing homosexuals and Islamic Extremists are actively doing so by dropping them off buildings, stoning them, or otherwise using some satanically creative way to kill them – and no one is going crazy about it – yet let a Christian refuse to make a cake and the “Dementors” start circling.
Here’s a great article from Allen West’s website alking about exactly that difference: comparing the treatment of Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis who refuses to issue marriages to same sex couples, and Lena Masri a Muslim airline attendant who refused to serve alcohol.
What my opinion about Kim Davis? Even though the law did not allow same sex marriage when she was elected to the office, I think she has to follow the law and issue the certificate. While trying to get the law changed.
Kim Davis Update 9-4-2015
Kim Davis has been arrested. This is ludicrous and very much a hypocrisy. I applaud her for standing up for her beliefs, however, I still think she should issue the licenses or resign. She took an oath to upload the law regarding her duties and the law changed. I don’t agree with the law either. We need to work to have the law changed. She’s bringing attention to the issue, however, the main stream media will probably destroy her and her family. She’s already had death threats. I just don’t see her actions helping in the long run, but hopefully I’m wrong!
So, Whose Fault is it?
The reason we have legalized same sex marriage is because we elected a liberal President and that President appointed Supreme Court Justices that are liberal. The majority of Christians did not vote in the last two election cycles. Shameful.
As Christians What Should We Do?
- As Christians, we must exercise our civic responsibilities by voting and by urging our elected officials to do what is right.
- Christians need to turn out in full force and vote in the 2016 elections.
- Constantly write, call, or email your elected officials and express your viewpoint on bills, legislation, and in general.
- For now, we must “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s” until we get a better Caesar.
Jack Phillips
Where does this leave Jack Phillips, the owner of the Masterpiece Cakeshop, who Colorado says violated the Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act (CADA) when he refused to make a wedding cake for Charlie Craig and David Mullins? I respect Jack’s stance and wish him the best. They’re obviously making an example of him. I think he should have offered to make the cake, having an honest discussion with the two men about his beliefs and suggesting a different baker. However, if they wanted his cake, he should have made it. Then he should have made others aware of the problems with the law and worked to get more Christians to vote and be active in politics. That’s just my opinion and I support Jack and wish him the best.

Let’s just hope that we can stop worrying about the rainbows and focus on our real issues. Please read my previous post on Diversion because this whole issue is being used to divided, conquer, and profit, not love and care.
