The title of this blog, Do More Than Pray, means that to change things, we must do more than pray, we must take action. This post will outline one thing we can do.
The Dishonest Media… Donald Trump calls them out on it like no one has. The media bears a great deal of responsibility for the problems in this country. But how do they do it? How do they get away with it.
Read my previous post about attending the Donald Trump rally in Raleigh, NC on 7/5/2016. The place was packed, standing room only. When we left, there appeared to be a crowd outside that had been listening to the speech on speakers outside…
Also yesterday in NC, Hillary and Obama made a campaign rally in Charlotte, NC.
Yet this morning, in my inbox, was an email from a local TV station (I subscribe to their email alerts) with a big photo of Killary and Obama and a link to their full speeches… not one, NOT ONE mention of the Trump event AT ALL. See photos below for screen cap.
Looking down their twitter feed, I did see an article about the Trump rally. It listed the number of people attending low: the event center has a capacity of 2277 and it was standing room only, not counting those outside. The article said “more than 2000 filled the inside…”, but made no mention of the outside, nor mentioned the wildly energetic crowd, or that he stayed after for a meet and greet signing hats, etc.
So I tweeted about that fact a few times… including their twitter handle… know what happened… a little while later they sent out a couple more “Morning Update” emails that including a link to the Trump speech, include one email that had Trump at the top and no mention of Killary/Obama. Did I cause them to correct it? Was I one of many complaining? I’m not sure. But I know that every complaint, every time they’re called out on their bias, will help.
Do More Than Pray – Push Back
We have technology today that is incredible. USE IT. Take photos, record events, post it. Call out the media when they’re biased.
The media does not have to blatantly lie all the time; they slightly color, leave out, or taint their coverage. Slightly make Hillary/Obama’s event sound better, include more coverage of it… make Trump’s event sound less attended, don’t report on how energetic it was, etc.
“Look for the Ones With Confederate Flag Shirts”
While my wife and son were waiting in line at the Trump Rally in Raleigh, NC yesterday, she overheard a cameraman and reporter talking about who to interview and the cameraman told the reporter to look for people wearing Confederate flag shirts. My wife did not notice which station or news service they were with. This is the kind of subtle (or not so subtle) bias we’re fighting. Note: I don’t recall any Confederate flag shirts, but I may not have inspected everyone at the rally! Not that there’s anything wrong with the Confederate flag, being from the south, I can accurately say it’s a symbol that has been hijacked for political purposes.
You Do Not Know Unless You Were There
Unless you were there, and then later see their coverage, you wouldn’t know the news coverage of an event was biased. I’ve been to two Trump rallies and the coverage of both was skewed.
The previous rally I attended in Greensboro, NC on 6/14/2016 was awesome too. Peaceful crowd, more protesters than in Raleigh (I guess between the rain and Killary/Obama being in Charlotte not many protesters came), and well attended. However the news kept running one particular protester that was removed from the event yelling about how “she didn’t do nothing”… well, we had a great view from above of her being escorted from the event and when she was directly under our seats (we were on the end of the bleachers), she decided to try to break away from the officer holding her arm (gently holding her arm – all the police were very professional). What happens when you try to fight an officer? You get held down and zip tied: see the photo, so yes, she DID do something. But did the news report on that – NO.
If Only a Fraction of Us Start Pushing Back…
If only a fraction of us start pushing back on the liberal, progressive tainted news coverage, it can and will make a difference. This is ONE thing you can Do More Than Pray (or in addition to I would add)!
One corollary to this is to stop watching the main stream media, including Fox News as much as possible. I use a ROKU to watch One American News Network, they’re a small news network and are much less biased. The only time I regularly watch Fox now is Sean Hannity.
Before Trump spoke, people near the “media area” at the Trump Raleigh, NC rally last night were chanting “Tell the truth” to the media when they’d turn on their lights and appear to go live with an anchor talking. Keep putting pressure on them whenever possible.
